Ragnar Jónasson is one of my favourite authors ever so I was thrilled when I was approved on NetGalley, a huge thanks to NetGalley and Penguin books.

In a deadly Icelandic snowstorm, four friends seek shelter in an abandoned hunting lodge. Miles from help, and knowing they will die out in the cold, they break in, hoping to wait out the storm until morning.
But nothing can prepare them for what's inside ...
With no other option, they are forced to spend a long and terrifying night in the cabin: watching as intently and silently as they themselves are being watched.
As the night darkens, old secrets spill into the light, and tensions rise between the four friends. Soon it's clear that what they've discovered in the cabin is far from the only mystery lurking there.
Nor the only thing to be afraid of ...

Outside is a page turner, at 352 pages its a fairly fast read complete with quick chapters, which I LOVEE!

It is a very claustrophobic read and possibly the only book to make me actually feel claustrophobic, it would make the perfect winter read and only makes me want to visit Iceland even more than I already do. Jónasson has a brilliant way of describing the isolated landscape in which Outside is set.

Outside front cover

Outside centres on four characters, Daniel, Helena, Armann and Gunnlaugur, I won't lie... I didn't like any of them, they didn't have any redeemable qualities but I actually liked that I didn't like them, but thanks to Jonasson writing I was completely hooked on what was going to happen to them and if any were going to get their comeuppance...

Despite the blurb I had no idea what was going to happen and I was genuinely surprised by the twists and turns that occurred.

A solid 4 stars read!
